CK's Crafting

My 10-year-old is bright, smart, entrepreneurial, and an all-around awesome kid. He is kind, loving, and a pretty great big brother. He has an Etsy, https://ckscrafting.etsy.com if anyone would like to check it out. He likes having a little money to hisself, so that he can save money for when he gets older. I just wanted to boast about my oldest for a moment, because I am so proud of him.

Inflation

Have you been hit hard by the inflation bug? Food that costs 200% more than it used to? Do you just wish you could go back in time and enjoy grocery prices from years ago? Me too! Since we have a family of 6, 4 of which are young, growing boys, we buy A LOT of food. My husband works outdoors, so I try to find filling foods for him. Some days, we eat sandwiches with a healthy side, other days, I make tacos (technically also a sandwich), but I always try to have protein, carbs, and fresh vegetables or fruit, but meat is expensive, so that is a bit harder some days. We use beans in its place at times, but my boys aren't big on too many beans.  We have found that ground chicken is cheaper than ground beef, but we do not enjoy ground turkey. We use Aldi as our main grocery store, which is honestly almost as expensive as other stores now. I drink water and Plexus that I already had at my house, to save money, even when I want a probiotic soda. I have stopped drinking actual sodas for my

Kid Shows

As I have mentioned before, I have kids, 4 little boys. My oldest is 10 and honestly, since we are low technology for them, will watch anything that I let him. He is really into old shows, like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and Zoboomafoo, but recently started enjoying Wild Kratts. My 7-year-old likes Wild Kratts too, but prefers Bluey. Mr. 4-year-old is a person of many likes, he will watch Bluey, Lego Jurassic World, Little Baby Bum, or anything, except Mr. Rogers. My little man, a 2-year-old, loves Little Baby Bum, because they sing about buses, or bus bus, as he calls it.  There are many shows that we refuse to allow them to watch, like Cocomelon, Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, or anything like that. Now I know, technology is the future, but I feel like as parents, we must control things that are in our home. I don't mean complete control, I allowed my 10-year-old to read the synopsis of a set of books, and he chose not to read the books, because they were inappropriate, according to him. I

Life on the Homestead

Have you ever felt like life is going too fast? Do you ever want to just slow down and forget technology? Do you love animals? I remember being pretty young and wanting all the animals. The most we had was a dog or cat, but deep down, I really wanted a cow or a goat. Although I don't have a cow, I do have 3 goats. We named them Nugget, S'mores, and Brownie, we also had Sumi (short for Sumatra), but sadly, he passed away earlier this year from poisoning (a random plant he decided to nibble on). I still want a cow or two, but this life makes my heart happy. I love all of our ducks, chickens, goats, cats, and rabbits. Hopefully, we will expand in the next couple of years and have even more animal love here. I can go outside and rub the goats (not during rut season) and the world stops. My life seems simple. I grew up wanting the "Laura Ingalls" life. It always seemed so calm, slow, and peaceful. I know life was hard back then, but technology has ruined so much. I rememb

Plexus (Yes or No?)

I used to sell Plexus...and sucked at it. Well recently I noticed that I had some leftover from my last purchase. Did I want to try drinking it? Expiration dates hadn't passed yet so I chose to drink it. I was drinking 2 or 3 Dr. Pepper's a day, so surely this would be better than all that soda. Well I am on day 12, with no soda. I feel great. I drink my Plexus, then I drink water for the rest of the day. I have lost quite a few pounds in this short amount of time. My energy is slowly coming back, I can walk around my homestead and not be completely out of breath when I am done. Do I want to try to sell it again? Honestly I don't know yet, but the way I feel today, proves I never truly tried before, I gave it a chance, but allowed other things to pull me back down. I'm truly trying to learn to love myself, because I have 4 little boys that deserve the best of me.
